Zanzibar’s clove trade built the sultanate. A farm walk near Kizimbani or Kidichi shows clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, vanilla, and iodine plant, with tastings of fruit and spice tea.

Guides crush leaves and bark so you can smell the crop in the field, not only in a packet. The tour is often joined to Stone Town on the same day.
